Karely Cabrera, MD, joined our practice from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Albany, Georgia, and worked previously for the Veteran’s Affairs Caribbean Network in San Juan, Puerto Rico as an Infectious Diseases physician.
Dr. Cabrera is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, and board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Cabrera is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, American College of Physicians, the Alpha Omega Alpha Society, and the American Medical Association. She is licensed to practice medicine in Florida and Georgia.
Dr. Cabrera received her medical degree at the Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:

She lives in St. Lucie West with her husband, who is also a local physician. Dr. Cabrera enjoys working inside the hospitals, and in her time off, she enjoys reading, and spending time outdoors.

Background: Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a proven strategy for HIV prevention, but knowledge and uptake of PrEP in Miami remain suboptimal. People living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) may have HIV uninfected sexual partners who could benefit from PrEP. Few studies have addressed knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs regarding PrEP among PLWHA.
